5 Minutes of FABULOUS!: C O Z Y Time.
I don't know about you, but recently I've been going a mile a minute. With it being the holiday season, I'm pumping out every last project that I can, getting together with friends, my mind is racing, trying my best to pick out the most thoughtful gifts for everyone on my list.
I'm exhausted. OY VEY!
I've been asking myself, "What sounds really good to me right now?" and my heart has been answering, "Being C O Z Y sounds soooo good right now."
Are you feelin' me with this crazy mad dash to the holidays and the pressure to wrap the year up in a bow? If so, I want to share with you what it means to me to actively create all the WARM & COZY vibes that I've been craving.
1. Candle lit yoga AT HOME (See picture above & welcome to my home)
Recently I've been craving restorative movement. I want to move my body in a healing, sweet, nurturing, and soulful way. I decided to satisfy my craving by turning down all the lights in my apartment, lighting a bunch of candles, and getting my mat out. I used this yoga YouTube video to guide me through a gorgeous flow.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a good yoga class, but right now I don't really feel like leaving my home and there ain't nothin' wrong with that! Are you feeling the same?
2. Down time. LAWD the down time is giving me life!!!
I want to keep it real with you- I HAVE to schedule my down time. I schedule blocks of it into my calendar because if not, I will schedule a client dinner or coffee with someone that I actually don't really want to kick it with instead. So my down time consists of wrapping myself up like a human burrito in a Mexican blanket and watching a movie on the couch or in bed. The combo of scheduling these moments + feel good entertainment i.e. Gilmore Girls, any Barbra Streisand movie, or really anything animated is crucial to achieving the warm and cozies.
Check out some of my favorite feel-good movies- I hope they inspire you to schedule some down time on your calendar.
3. Hot baths with lots of lavender oil and Epsom salt
It's been chilly here in LA and I've been living for extra hot baths before bed and sometimes I even take one in the morning too! I find baths to be so restorative for my body and soul. It only takes an extra 5 minutes to draw a bath and I often remind myself that I am WORTH the little bit of extra time. And so are you!
4. Solo mani/pedi date + audio book time
Not everyone loves a mani/pedi, but I'm one of those gals that feels lit up when I go to the nail salon to get pampered. I set an hour aside to walk over to the salon to get a sexy and festive bright red mani and pedi. I find it utterly therapeutic to listen to my newest audio book while the manicurist goes to work on my paws and claws.
I'm currently listening to Arianna Huffington's Sleep Revolution and think you may love it as much as I do!
5. Nourishing foods and beverages
In my opinion, nothing is more cozy and comforting than a warm homemade meal. This week, my body is yearning for hearty stews, lots of hot tea, and nutrient dense bone broth. I decided to make a grounding winter veggie stew with sweet potatoes, ginger, garlic, kale, fennel, garbanzo beans with stewed tomatoes, coconut milk and TONS of curry, turmeric, and coriander. DELISH!
I'm also currently obsessed with herbal vanilla hazelnut tea and it's all I've drinking because it's literally been giving me the warm and fuzzies all week!
Also, instead of running out for an afternoon cup of coffee, I've been really into bone broth. I know, I know, it's so frickin' trendy, but it's seriously delicious and filled with anti-aging collagen aka drink a cup of this and you can push that potential botox sesh. My neighborhood joint that offers broth by the coffee cup is Belcampo on 3rd St.
